For the 16 players who participated in Senior [Premier League / Leinster Senior Cup] cricket for Merrion in 2024 there are some important milestones in the coming season.
Perhaps the most significant is the 10,000 threshold that John Anderson will reach if he scores another 223 [Leinster Senior] runs. His runs to date have been scored at an average of 52. If he reached the 10,000 milestone he will be only the 14th player to do so in the history of Leinster cricket going back to 1919 and the first from Merrion. Provided he retains an average over 50.63 [Andre Botha] he will have the second highest career averages after Jeremy Bray who scored 10,465 at an average of just under 61. The full table is set out below.

There are two other important career batting milestones to consider. 5000 runs is the threshold for qualifying for the Leinster Career Batting averages and Max Sorenson and Stephen Doheny are both within striking distance. Max currently has 4,962 runs to his name so just needs another 38 runs. For Stephen the milestone is a little further away but certainly not out of sight with 693 runs needed to reach the target in 2025.
On the bowling front the qualifying threshold for bowlers in the modern era [those that played in limited overs competitions only] is 250 wickets. The only one near this is John Anderson with 241 career wickets. On the other hand Tom Stanton only needs one wicket to achieve the memorable milestone of 200 career wickets. His 199 wickets come at a career average of 21.49 and an economy rate of 3.62.
Of course not all of the above runs and wickets have been scored while playing for Merrion.
