Merrion Cricket Club

Merrion has a large number of teams (eight men, two women, three social and boys and girls teams for all age groups) catering for all standards and interests.

Based on Anglesea Road in picturesque Ballsbridge in Dublin, we have a vibrant youth section supported by top quality coaching that has seen our members graduate to the highest standards of world cricket. Ed Joyce, John Anderson, Tyrone Kane, Cecelia Joyce, Elena Tice, Isobel Joyce and Kate McKenna are some of our recent international stars.

Our award winning clubhouse is the perfect place to enjoy the clubs social and friendly atmosphere throughout the cricket season – with families particularly welcome, to a ground that’s especially safe for young children as access is well off the main road.

A Rich History

Merrion Cricket Club was founded in 1906 and has been at its present location in Anglesea Road since 1908. As a Junior Club, Merrion was a founder member of the Leinster Cricket Union in 1919 and in 1926 was promoted to the Senior ranks. It has taken part in the LCU Senior Competitions ever since.

Merrion Records

Thanks to the efforts of the late Derek Scott and others, the Leinster Cricket Union has detailed club and player records going back the foundation of the LCU in 1919. Summary records for Merrion including records up to he end of 1919 are enclosed.
