The Merrion Cricket Season for 2024 will officially start at the beginning of April. Although some members have already made it down to the nets, the regular weekly evening practices will commence on the 2nd April. Women’s practices start on the 8th April.
There is no change in the weekly schedule from last year.
Monday 18.00 – 20.00 Women’s Senior Practice
Tuesday 18.00 – 20.00 Senior Open [1st Xi to 3rd XI Squads]
Wednesday 18.00 – 20.00 Senior Open [4th Xi – 7th XI]
Thursday 18.00 – 20.00 Senior Open [1st Xi to 3rd XI Squads]
The Friday night Kids Fun Cricket will start in early May.
Registration All playing members, adult and youth, are asked to make sure that they have registered for the coming season with Cricket Leinster. This is a requirement for anyone playing league and cup matches in Leinster. But it is also advised for anyone playing Social Cricket as it includes injury insurance.
Annual Subscriptions You can now pay your annual subscription for the season on the Merrion website. There has been a change in the way you pay your subscription. There are two pathways, one for Single Person Memberships and the other for Family [Youth] Memberships. The latter is for anyone with children under the age of 18 playing in the club.
Single Memberships For anyone renewing their Senior Playing [Open or Women], University, Pavilion Membership or their Social Membership just go to the Membership Page [navigate from the Home Page above] and select Proceed to Payment under the Single Membership heading. You then choose the type of membership you want and provide your credit card details.
For new members, before proceeding to payment, you must complete the Membership Application Form.
Family Memberships For anyone with children under the age of 18 who want to play cricket, the club offers three types of Family Membership. Which to choose depends on the membership status of the parent / guardian, Senior Playing, Senior Pavilion or Social. Both existing and new members are asked to complete the Family Membership Form before proceeding to payment. This is to ensure that all parental consents and youth details are up to date.
The Annual Subscription Rates are unchanged from last year. However, this is always subject to any decision that might be made at the Spring General Meeting to increase subscription levels. So get your membership paid early to avoid the risk.
We have a few guests coming from overseas playing and coaching in the club this year. If anyone has available accommodation or knows of anyone with accommodation please let us know. Provided the accommodation is within your main residence, including self-contained units, you may be able to benefit from the government’s’ ‘rent a room’ scheme that allows rental income to be tax free up to a set amount.
We are looking forward to seeing you at our new, regular ‘Last Saturday‘ club socials through the summer – first one on April 27th from 7pm.
