Appointment of Youth Development Officer

The Management Committee are pleased to confirm the appointment of Jarryd Chetty as the club’s new Youth Development Officer (YDO). Jarryd will execute his duties in the role alongside his commitments teaching in Gonzaga College where he teaches business, economics, and geography as well as coaching cricket at the school among other sports.

Jarryd brings a wealth of experience to the role of YDO, having worked extensively coaching both youth and adult cricket in Ireland as well as in his homeland of South Africa, where he worked with Glenwood High School, and worked with a number of Irish players as part of the Cricket Leinster exchange program during this time as well as the school’s various cricket teams.

In 2018, Jarryd relocated to Ireland, and begun working with CUS as a teacher and director of cricket, while also taking on a joint role in Leinster Cricket Club, where he was director of adult, and youth cricket. During this time Jarryd coached the club’s various youth teams, and notably, guided their men’s 1st XI to winning the Irish Senior Cup in 2023.

Jarryd had to say the following about joining Merrion as the club’s Youth Development Officer.

“I’m excited to take on the role of Youth Development Officer at Merrion. My goal is to create a fun, supportive, and challenging environment where young cricketers can thrive and reach their full potential.”

The Management Committee is delighted to have Jarryd on board and hopes everyone at the club will join them, in wishing Jarryd all the best in his new role.
