Although the 1st XI narrowly failed to chase down a 300 plus total at Anglesea Rd on Saturday, overall it has been a good start for Merrion teams in their various league competitions. The 2nd secured their first league win of the season against Leinster the previous weekend and followed up with a comfortable eight wicket win in the Tillain Cup [T20] v Sandyford on Sunday.
The 3rd XI failed in the first round of the YMCA Salver [T20] against a strong Pembroke 3rd XI but made up for it with a nail biting home victory against Cork Harlequins by 2 runs defending 176 in Division 4.
The 4th XI were not playing this weekend but they have bragging rights over the 3rd XI given their league victory over the same Pembroke opposition the previous week.
And finally, the 5th XI got their league season off to an excellent start when they successfully defended a score of 231 v Swords 2 to win by 26 runs.
