Merrion held its Autumn General Meeting on 25th October. The main purpose of the AGM was to elect a new team to lead the club in 2024, both on and off the field. The key positions filled at the meeting are set out below.
Andrew Kay was re-elected as Chair of the Management Committee. The other two officers are Conor Austin [Secretary] and Eddie Lewis [Treasurer]. The Chairs of the Cricket and Finance Committees are unchanged: Hari Ramasetty and Siobhan Forkin. The elected members of the Management Committee are Mark Little, Michael O’Hara, Ciara Squires and Jim Walsh.
On the cricketing front Sam Harbinson was elected as captain of the 1st XI [Open] and Celeste Raack stays in place as captain of the Womens 1st XI. Hugh Kennedy is the new VC of the Open 1st XI.
The Open Selection Committee is made up of Jim Walsh [Chair] and Bob Stanton and Sid Kalra. The new Team Secretary is Hansel deSouza. Chetan Suttraway takes on the role of Fixture Secretary.
Christian Dijkstra continues as Chair of the Youth Section.
Some post are unfilled, including the important one of Chair of the Social Committee. Anyone interested in taking on this role should contact the Club Secretary at secretary@merrioncricketclub.ie.
The President, Liam Casey, starts his second year in the post.
The meeting unanimously endorsed the recommendation of the Management Committee that Barry Little and Tony Fleming be made Honorary Life Members in recognition of their contribution to the club over many years.
The other motions circulated in advance were approved at the meeting and there was a lively discussion about matters that members would like the Management Committee to address in the coming year.
