On 18th August a group of Merrion girls travelled to London to watch a ‘Hundred’ game at Lords and to take in the city sights. The match was between the London Spirit and the Northern Superchargers. It was an exciting and fast-paced game in an historic setting and provided an insight into what opportunities now exist for Women cricketers. And of course the standard required to reach this level.
The following day the girls visited some of the cultural sights including the Lightroom where there was an exhibition of works by David Hockney. This was followed be a visit to the Victoria and Albert Museum to see the Diva Exhibition. The day was rounded off with a trip to the iconic Grade II listed building , the Battersea Power Station.
The girls attending: Ally Boucher, Sophie Stewart, Isabel Light, Niamh MacNulty, Aisling Lawlor, Caoimhe Byrne, Lucy Kay, Lizzie O’Reilly Hyland, Harriet Houchin, Bronwyn Johnson, Giulla Trolese, Sibha Bhoja, Aoife Hayden, Isabel Light.
Thanks to all the parents who accompanied the group on their trip, with special thanks to Lesley Light for organising and acting as tour guide.
