A great performance by the Irish Womens team managed by Ed Joyce to defeat South Africa in their first T20 match of the series. Three Merrion players, Leah Paul, Celeste Raack and Rachel Delaney, were part of the Irish team and all made a contribution towards the win. Leading the way Leah was named Player of the Match for her 47 runs and crucial wicket when the game was in the balance. Rachel and Celeste took a wicket each and also made important runs at the tail end of the Irish innings.
Ireland have five more games against the same opponents over the next ten days.
