With two matches this is an important weekend for the 1st XI. Saturday sees the return of the Irish Senior Cup and Merrion take on Coleraine at Anglesea Road [13.00]. the in-form Niranjan Shankar comes into the team in place of Michael Lewis who is unavailable this weekend.
Sunday sees the 1st’s take on Leinster in Rathmines in a game they probably need to win if they are to qualify for the semi-finals of the League Cup. With a few players unavailable this could well prove a difficult match to get a result.
The other games this weekend sees the 5ths travel to Longford to take on their 2nd XI [also Saturday]. On Sunday the 3rds have a home fixtures against Clontarf 3rds and the 4ths travel to Carlow.
Merrion currently lie second in the Sprint Coatings D1 league after three rounds following their win against Phoenix on Thursday. They top the Pilkington Plate [Section A / 40 Overs] as the only unbeaten side after two games.
