An excellent wicket at Anglesea Road saw Leinster put up a mammoth total of 301/6. The Merrion bowling was put to the sword and although there was something of a fight back in the final 20 overs it was not enough to overcome a poor start. Best Swapnil Modgill [3/64].

Merrion replied with intent and Mogdill [84] and Michael Lewis [75] put on a 150 run 1st wicket partnership. But despite being in a good position at the mid way stage of the innings Merrion failed to push on and as wickets fell the run rate began to rise. In the end Merrion fell 16 runs short with the last wicket falling gin the final over.
