Leinster Competitions: June Checkpoint

As of the 1stJune 2026 the following is the position of the Merrion teams in Leinster competitions.

At this early stage in the season, the 1st XI are battling for a top six spot  and the 2nd XI are in second place with a crucial match coming up next week against third placed Pembroke 2. The other teams are mid table with the 6ths yet to get their season going.

In terms of cup competitions. The 1st XI are out of both the Irish and Leinster Senior Cups. The 2nd XI are in the semi-finals of the Premier II Cup. The 1st XI has one win in the Alan Murray T20 competition to their credit, with a crucial game next Monday against Leinster. Unfortunately that is the only t20 game won by any Merrion side so far this season.

For the 1st XI, in Leinster league and cup competitions, Swapnil Modgill is the top scorer with John Anderson recording the highest average. Andrew Doheny is the top wicket taker.

For the club as a whole, in all Leinster matches, Ollie Molins is leading the way with most runs and Peter Forkin the most wickets.

The three womens teams have started strongly in their different competitions. The 1st XI is top of the league and undefeated with four wins. The 2nd XI have three wins out of four games and the 3rd XI started with a tie.  All teams have progressed through the first round of their respective cups.

In terms of individual performance. Four Merrion players have made more than 100 runs in Senior league and cup and two have taken five wickets or more. Julieanne Morrissey is joint third in the wicket takers in Leinster, but has the best bowling average and economy rate. For players with 200 runs or more, Leah Paul tops the Leinster averages with 223 runs, but only once out. She is closely followed by Bella Armstrong who made 197 in her first weekend, for once out.
