Rory Best Charity Journey

On Tuesday 16th May, Rory Best, former Ireland and Ulster Rugby Captain and Cancer Fund for Children Ambassador, is undertaking a 10-day journey across Ireland covering over 300+km to help raise vital funds to ensure no child across Ireland has to face cancer alone. He will finish up in Cong, Co. Mayo on Thursday 25th May – home to the site of our new therapeutic short break centre, Daisy Lodge, for children and young people, and their families, impacted by cancer.

Starting on Tuesday 16th at the Aviva Stadium, Dublin, Rory will kick off his challenge by walking through the stadium tunnel at 10am with a host of amazing rugby and GAA stars and families supported by the charity in tow supporting him. Rory aims to raise a phenomenal €2Million from this challenge to help us build our new Daisy Lodge in Cong which will allow Cancer Fund for Children to increase the number of young people impacted by cancer across Ireland that we support from 1,800 to over 4,000.

Lots of business, clubs and school out on Tuesday morning to cheer Rory off in style, with lots more people spectating on route across the 10 days and even more making donations in support or Rory’s challenge or taking on their own fundraising activity. If you would like to get involved in any way, we would love to have your support in helping to ensure no child has to face cancer alone. You can donate and sign up for fundraising online at www.rorysmiles2mayo.com, or please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any queries or there is anything else I can help with.
