Analysis of runs scored per innings

Paul Reynolds in an article posted on the Cricket Leinster website, see  has analysed the runs scored per first innings over the 100 years of senior club cricket in Leinster. He charts the gradual increase in the overall runs scored and looks at some of the possible reasons.

What is of particular interest is that he uses Merrion as his example to see how the club has fared in different eras taking a three year rolling average. Merrion’s struggles in the 1960s and early 1970s and again in the early 1990s are clearly shown form the figures. The high points of our batting – led by Brad Spanner, Sean Flegler, Chris Torrissi, Dom and Gus Joyce around the turn of the century and the John Anderson inspired most recent decade – and out bowling – led by Richard Dowses, Angus Fleming, Damian Poder between 1997 and 1999 and later when led by Matt Petrie and Richard Keaveney – are clearly outlined.
